The last update from Severn Trent advised the work outside the village hall would be finished by May 28th. There are now further issues with blocked sewerage pipes in the railway cottages. We have emailed and messaged Severn Trent for an update, and asked for the whole system to be investaged. The pumping system fails on Coton Road North after heavy rainfall, residents unable to flush toilets and almost flooded into properties. We have ongoing issues on Station Road South, pipes bursting and ongoing sewerage smell and now the latest problems by the Railway Cottages. Will await the update.
AUGUST 2025 - William Smith is the MP allocated caseworker who has raised our concerns with their MP correspondence line at Severn Trent and the Area Catchment Lead. They have requested they address points we have raised around the sewage system being overwhelmed on Coton Road North during periods of heavy rainfall.
This appears to have prompted Catherinr Berry at Severn Trent to respond to the report detailing our issues. She went over the problems which have been solved and finished by saying - Flooding linked to the STW pump station has been mentioned several times, particularly between January and March 2024. There have been no reported incidents of this nature since, but I’m keen to understand the underlying issues. Unfortunately, the pump station is not managed by my team, so I’ve contacted the relevant department to confirm what works have been carried out and whether any further risks remain.
It’s also worth noting that several flooding incidents have been attributed to blockages in the public sewer network. However, these appear to be unrelated to the longer-standing issues you’ve been experiencing.
Please rest assured that I’m committed to resolving these matters and ensuring that all concerns are properly addressed. If there’s anything I’ve missed or if you have further questions, I’d be grateful if you could let me know.
